Miniature in the park
  • Lightvessel Adlergrund

It was built by the German government in Nüscke & Co., Stettin, and was finished just before the outbreak of World War I. The Lightship Adlergrund was 47.5 meters long and 8 meters wide. It was supposed to be a gift to the Brazilian government, but the war prevented those plans. The name "Adlergrund" is based on the same shoal, where the ship was anchored. The minimum depth of the sea in this area is only 5 m, the flattest place in the Baltic Sea. In both World Wars the vessel was used as a navigation and observation point and was equipped with two 20-mm cannons. As a result of an air attack on May 3rd, 1945 the ship sank in the Bay of Mecklenburg.

This miniature was built by 7 artists in 4 months.
